Ilocos 2013

Only had the time now to upload and post process some pictures I took from our trip. Really inlove with this new editing app I’m using cause it makes my shots look so filmy and vintage! Will play around with more pictures when I find the time.

Post processing some film shots from Ilocos right now. Still haven’t had the time to upload the pictures from my DSLR cause school has been EXHAUSTING, and it’s only been 2 weeks. HAAAYYY.

Anyways, I just realized that I really should’ve bought a Canon AE-1/Nikon FM instead. I could’ve actually saved some money. The La Sardina’s more expensive than getting these cameras secondhand in Hidalgo or in Sulit.ph. HAAAAYYY lesson learned. I must invest on film photography!

So I finally bought my La Sardina camera today, after waiting for FOREVER. It was a close fight between the Quadrat and the Copernicus but I settled for the latter since it was a limited edition design anyway.

I’ve been wanting to get into analogue photography for the longest time now, but it’s been hard saving up for a camera. If I had more moolah, I would’ve preferred buying the Canon AE-1 or Pentax K1000 cameras, but I’d still have to hunt them down in Hidalgo (and see if they’re still in good working condition). Maybe some other time, But for now, I’ll start with this baby!

I decided to buy 2 rolls of expired film from Kodak as my test rolls, since I’m just starting AND I’M REALLY CLUELESS. I’m so intimidated with film, because you’re never certain if the shots will come out the way you want them to. Ohwell, that’s the beauty of it I guess. Got to let go and JUST SHOOT! :-)

Team Manila didn’t have the 35mm color negative ISO 400 film which sucks, so I guess I’ll be buying film rolls outside for awhile. I just learned how to load film into the camera earlier and I think I might have screwed it up HAHAHAHA I’m pretty sure my first roll will be shit.

Anyways, I’m going to finish these rolls for our Ilocos trip this weekend and see how the expired film rolls turn out when I get them developed! Wish me luuuuck.

meet me at the skyline

Discovered this wonderful view from our condominium’s penthouse the other night when I was supposed to work out. So much for that, I just ended up taking pictures of the skyline. It was beautiful. You could see everything from up there! It really made me miss living in Makati though. :(

Had a tiring 5 hour photoshoot on set for our upcoming school pageant. It was a really fun experience though! I enjoyed being the creative director & photographer. Somewhat got the feel of my future career!

Being in a room full of gorgeous people was just so amusing. My co-workers were definitely great company to have around! Another thing, I wish to earn for 50mm 1.4 lens. They cost 20k, but I know why it cost that much. The pictures are just so sharp and precise, they come out so nice! I had trouble shooting with my new 50 mm 1.8 lens at first, plus difficulty with the lighting and backdrop because I was just so new to it all. I guess I’ll get it eventually.

gold in the air of summer

“One day,” you said to me, “I saw the sunset forty-four times!”
And a little later you added:
“You know—one loves the sunset, when one is so sad …”
“Were you so sad, then?” I asked, “on the day of the forty-four sunsets?”
But the little prince made no reply.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me lately. I guess I’ve been feeling a bit anti-social. Kind of those moods wherein you just want to live inside a cave and disappear from the world. Solitude is good, I guess. I feel comfortable in my own company.

I feel really happy that my portfolio for my photography class turned out nice, even though developing the pictures cost me more than 1,000! It was worth it when I saw my pictures printed. Alot of people actually complimented me about my work. Feels good to know that there are people who believe in my talent. I don’t really care, I’m just inspired. And all I want to do is inspire, too. My dad told me he’ll be buying me the 50mm prime lens that I’ve been dying to have, I cannot wait!

Been wanting to buy and read new books, because I guess books are sort of my way to escape from reality and live in fantasy. Don’t we all want to do that once in awhile?
